Kras

Kras

The end of 2017. No plans for New Year's. The least we could do is spend a few days somewhere nice. So we went to Kras - Karst region of Slovenia, and spent 3 days in an amazing atmosphere. Our whole experience revolved around our accommodation - Hotel St. Daniel. The plan was to see Štanjel - a picturesque hilltop village.

Trieste

It was a fine Saturday as we headed down to the seaside. I've been to Trieste three times already, but this was the first time I actually got to walk around to see the sights.

No work Wednesday. Holiday Wednesday. A famous Slovenian poet died 170 years ago Wednesday.

I haven't been to these parts all that much so it was fun to rediscover some spots and find some yet unknown.

Peričnik waterfall

I probably make a trip to Peričnik waterfall at least once a year. It's one of the best-known waterfalls in Slovenia, located in the Triglav National Park. Winter time, however, offers something special.

House Raduha

House Raduha

"House Raduha is located in the old centre of Luce. It got its name from the Raduha Mountain, which slopes down a ridge to the rocky threshold Breznica right at the edge of the village. The only things separating the house and the Breznica threshold is the Savinja River and our garden, which features living units in a beautiful architectural distribution.
House Raduha, known among the locals as 'pri Medetu', has been welcoming guests ever since 1875. The cooking skills of grandmothers have helped hone the mastery of granddaughters for four generations. You will rarely find such an inspired combination of tradition and modern influences as in House Raduha."

Mangart saddle

Hiking around Mangart saddle with great views all around. Mangart is Slovenia’s fourth highest mountain with a very convenient access - the Mangart road (Slovenia’s highest road). We didn't ascend the mountain itself but merely circled around the plateau. Next time we'll surely conquer it.
