A Dutch couple asks us if the pizza is ok and we start talking.
2018, Slovenia.
Aart and Britt come to Slovenia and spend the first couple of days with us.
We picked them up at the airport, had a huge breakfast and headed out to some nearby landmarks. We started with Vintgar Gorge, which was a crazy surprise. I've never been in August, so it was a shock to see it that crowded (pics don't show it though).
Next stop would naturally be Lake Bled. We borrowed a small boat and rowed to the island. After a short walk around we got some (amazing) ice cream and went for a swim by the dock.
Later we checked out Café Belvedere and the beautiful viewpoint.
Evening hike. We drove to the green Pokljuka plateau and climbed Visevnik, a 2050m high peak with amazing views all around - Pokljuka forests, Karawanks, Bohinj Lake, Triglav ...
Day 2. Weather forecast wasn't ideal. We still drove to Mojstrana to see the mighty Pericnik waterfall.
Hungry. Lunch at Lacni Kekec in Kranjska Gora. It was delicious. Being so close, a visit to Lake Jasna was a must.
This concluded our two day trip. We had planned some more hikes but the weather prevented that. They checked out Lake Bohinj the next day and continued the trip over Vrsic pass towards Soca valley, Goriska Brda, Kras, Piran, Ljubljana, Velika Planina and finished with a stay in the tree house.
