It was a cold few weeks here in Slovenia. The coldest I remember actually.

I probably make a trip to Peričnik waterfall at least once a year. It's one of the best-known waterfalls in Slovenia, located in the Triglav National Park. The flow is strongest in spring or autumn. Winter time, however, offers something special. The whole wall freezes over in this blueish hue and a thousand icicles descend from the rocks.

Peričnik actually consists of two falls - the upper one measuring 16m, and the lower, taller one falling down for 52m. It's also possible to walk behind it when there's no ice.

The waterfall flows into the glacial valley Vrata into the beautiful Triglavska Bistrica creek. Peričnik is easily accessible by car from Mojstrana or as we like to do, park the car at the end of the village and take a short hike to the falls.
