Prlekija is a northeastern Slovenian region between the Drava and Mura rivers. Since it’s quite distant from Gorenjska, it’s an area we don’t visit often at all. We were pleasantly surprised though.

Kocbek Oil Mill was our first stop on the way. We purchased some pumpkin seed oil, which is well known in these parts. They explained their process and guided us through the workshop. Didn’t have my camera on me, but the mill is definitely worth a short visit and their oil is probably among the best.

Jeruzalem was our destination. We booked a small glamping house among the green hills. It is located on top of terraced vineyards and the views are absolutely beautiful. They also offer their own wine Terasse.

We relaxed for a few days, had some of the delicious wine the region offers and tried some of the local food. The meals are quite heavy but so tasty. The sun-kissed Jeruzalem hills is an area that has been known for quality wines for centuries. The location is supposedly perfect for growing top quality wines.

Tavern is one of the few guesthouses in the area. We visited twice. Their wine Kupljen is exeptional, the food is great and the service is very friendly.

We also made a day trip over the Mura river and the town of Murska Sobota. Babič Mill is a known sight on the Mura River. It is a combined floating mill and the only facility of its kind in Slovenia still operating today.

We drove to meat-based restaurant Kodila for lunch and continued exploring Murska Sobota on foot.
