A few days off at the end of October again. This time we didn’t leave the country. Instead we booked two nights in a cottage just by the river Soča. We took a long drive through Bohinjska Bistrica and over the hills to reach Tolmin. This should be a really nice ride except the weather was quite shitty.

Our cottage was lovely and had everything we needed for those few days. Cozy atmosphere, nice kitchen and a wood-burning stove. The hosts greeted us with local pastry and wine, which was delicious!

We spent our time inside, reading books, tending the fire and hanging out with our dog. The second day was surprisingly nice so we made use of it and explored the surrounding area. The Tolmin gorges were the nicest spot around. Tolmin itself and the neighbouring villages aren’t super picturesque, but one can find interesting spots all around. There’s also plenty of WW1 remnants - bunkers, trenches all around the area.
